🏺The story behind the Salt: A very special, uniquely natural salt, farmer-made by the saltworkers from Noirmoutier's renowned salt cooperative, Cooperative de sel de Noirmoutier. Harvested from the storied salt marshes of Île de Noirmoutier off the coast of Brittany, Sel Marin de Noirmoutier reflects a salt‑making tradition that has endured for over a thousand years. These Atlantic marshes—shaped by tides, wind, and the meticulous craft of generations of paludiers—were first developed in the early Middle Ages and later became an important part of France’s coastal economy. The island’s unique blend of oceanic climate, clay‑lined basins, and centuries‑old techniques produces a fine grey salt renowned for its purity, mineral richness, and artisanal character.

This salt is certified organic by France's Nature & Progress. This is the most rigorous salt certification process, which equates to purity and quality.

👨‍🍳 Notes for the Curious Palate: This fine‑grain Sel de Gris carries the quiet elegance of its origin: naturally mineral, gently earthy, and beautifully balanced.
